What is Driver CPC?

Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) introduces a new initial qualification to new drivers, which increases the amount of knowledge that drivers need before they can drive.

Who does it apply to?

All new and existing drivers wanting to drive professionally or require an LGV or PCV licence in order to do their job are required to do it.

Inital Driver CPC

For first time holders or newly qualified drivers, we help with Module 2 Case Study Theory & Module 4 Practical Demonstration test to prepare for work as a vocational driver.

MODULE 2 (CPC CASE STUDY THEORY TEST)

This module can be revised from our online revision which can be accessed once you book your Module 2.

The test itself consists of a case study test conducted at the Theory Test Centre. It lasts approximately 30 minutes.

MODULE 4 (PRACTICAL TEST)

The practical test involves walking around a stationary vehicle with the examiner, demonstrating that you can complete several crucial checks and lasts approximately 30 minutes.

At Welwyn LGV we make sure you’re fully prepared and take you through various question and answer sheets On the day we have a 4 hour training session to gain your knowledge before taking your CPC Module 4 Practical test.

Periodic Driver CPC

For existing licence holders who need all or part of the 35 hours of training, either for the first time, or as part of their five yearly renewal.

Any LGV Driver who obtained their LGV licence after September 2009 must complete 35 hours periodic training within 5 years from the date of completion of their Driver CPC Initial Qualification.

This 35 hours is broken into 5 modules, each lasting 7 hours. The Driver CPC Periodic Training Requirement is there to keep your skill set up-to-date, and build valuable new skills to improve and further your career.
